Priory Woods Cemetery is a large, peaceful open space located in the Western outskirts of Hull, which provides beautiful grounds that visitors can walk around and explore.
The grounds are sensitively landscaped and provide tranquil, secluded areas to relax or to honour and remember loved ones.
We welcome people of all cultures and communities. Staff on site are highly trained and can assist with all aspects of preparation and provision of information.
There is a separate area for Muslim burials, and a baby cemetery for children up to 2 years old in a dedicated area.
The on-site visitor centre houses the Spring and Autumn Tree memorials and a ‘Love of Hull’ memorial where plaques may be placed. It also provides a small waiting area, access to the digital Book of Remembrance, a toilet, and information about the grounds.
If you are unsure which area of the cemetery would be right for your loved one, you can contact us to book an appointment with our friendly team.
Rose Garden
Here maintained rose trees are planted neatly along pathways and are a lovely way to memorialise a loved one. There is also a small, grassed area for scattering ashes (by appointment) where you may also purchase a small memorial plaque. Vases are not permitted here but real flowers can be threaded into the wicker fence without packaging.
Peace Garden
Designed around a circular walled garden, this area provides a peaceful area to place a memorial plaque on a bench or have an above ground Coppice vault for your loved ones’ ashes.
Memory Garden
A beautiful area designed to be a place to connect your thoughts and memories, it contains lots of options for a memorial tribute. It is also home to our memory post box where you can write and post a message to your loved one on eco-friendly paper that is provided for free.
Natural Burial Ground
This beautiful area contains meadowlands where natural wildflowers grow and bees collect pollen to help grow new flora and feed fauna. A place where we leave only footprints, stone headstones and plaques are not permitted in this area.
Natural Scattering Area
A small grass area to scatter ashes by appointment (it must be witnessed by an authorised member of the bereavement team).
Woodland walk
Open for everyone to enjoy but designed for children, this interactive walk can help them to understand that the cemetery is not a frightening place, and to process their present or future feelings of loss.

Access and Parking
Pedestrian and vehicle access is through a single entrance/exit with a separate path. The car park is located to the right as you drive in. There is a network of roads that can give closer vehicular access to other areas of the grounds and provide additional parking spaces. These are closed off with a bollard but can be opened on request for visits and memorial services during visitor centre opening hours. Please drive slowly.
Most of the paths and roads are suitable for prams and people with limited mobility. Some areas of the site including the natural burial ground area has mown grass and gravelled paths which may be more difficult to use.
